Final Fantasy IV Sequel Goes Mobile
A magazine scan uncovered today by NeoGAF reveals Final Fantasy IV: The After — Return to the Moon, apparently a true sequel to 1991 Super Famicom RPG classic, Final Fantasy IV (Final Fantasy II for the U.S. Super Nintendo). According to the post, the scan details “The After” to be an RPG set long after the end of Final Fantasy IV, with players taking the role of Theodore, a descendant of Final Fantasy IV protagonist, Cecil.
The mobile exclusive will be available in February (in Japan, of course) for NTT DoCoMo phones (FOMA 903i models or higher), with a release later in the spring for AU Win Brew handsets. Final Fantasy IV: The After looks to join other major Square Enix sequels like Parasite Eve 3 and Kingdom Hearts Coded as mobile exclusives likely too powerful to run on modern North American cell phones.
Final Fantasy IV: The After comes on the heels of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy IV remake for Nintendo DS, which hits Japan on December 20th and is expected in North America in 2008.
